Remembering Alice Jackson (77)

It was with much sorrow that the Blantyre Community recently learned of the passing of much respected local woman, Alice Jackson who sadly passed away suddenly on Sunday, 26th June aged 77.

Born in Blantyre in 1945, Alice lived in the town all her life. She was a loving wife to John for 57 years and mother to 6 daughters, Pauline, Elaine, Alison, Leanne, Jillian and Andrea.

Alice was well known in the community having been involved in so many aspects of promoting Blantyre life – a Playleader, Sunday School teacher/Leader, elder of Livingstone Memorial Church and worked in David Livingstone Primary School for many years. Her kindness and warmth deeply touched everybody she met at all times.

Her family told us, “She had an amazing capacity for love. Not only towards her whole family but so many people who she journeyed with in life, whether for a short or long time.  Her kind and gentle heart has been acknowledged by so many in such an outpouring of love and concern shown to our family during this devastating time.  We are so thankful for our precious ‘Wee Alice’ who will live in our hearts forever.”

John 11:25-26 – Jesus said to her ‘I am the resurrection and the life.  The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die’

Our thoughts go out to the family and indeed all who knew her at this sad and difficult time.
