As the weather improves, it’s wonderful to see everyone enjoying the outdoors, out and about in parks and greenspaces. However, we want to remind you about the dangers of accessing water. Even though the weather is warm, the water will be cold and could be deep. Here’s some top safety tips:
Swim in Safe Areas
Stick to clearly marked swimming zones and be aware of underwater litter or obstructions
Don’t Go Alone
Always swim or paddle with someone — even strong swimmers can get into trouble.
Enter the Water Slowly
Sudden immersion can cause cold water shock, even on hot days.
Use the Right Safety Gear
Wear life jackets for boating or water sports, and supervise children closely.
Check Conditions First
Know the tides, currents, depth, and weather before entering the water.
Stay safe and have fun!
