Our latest fundraising totals are now in up to end of November here at Blantyre Telegraph. We’ve been SO pleased to help many people in the community and as always, it’s YOU who’s made it happen! Relaying heavily on our Supporters Group and donations, we’re delighted to announce a very decent £1,320 was raised for local good causes during the last few months!
Added to our overall fundraising total to date, it means Blantyre Telegraph (and its readers) have now raised a whopping £58,319 supporting 341 local good causes since the page started in 2011! This has been possible with thanks to people subscribing to out Supporters Group each month. It’s making a real positive difference directly on your community.
Amongst the awards we were able to make in the last few months included £250 to David Livingstone Birthplace supporting the Autumn Community day outdoors, £150 gifts to Victoria Care Home, New Games Consoles for St Andrews Hospice and struggling families, replacing lost toys and scooters, arranging community wreath tributes for the Pit Disaster and Remembrance Day, emergency food packages and charitable donations as well as loads of more minor gifts for local kids to celebrate their personal kindness or incredible successes!
Of concern though, is the growing need in 2025 to help individuals and families in Blantyre who have needed some additional help. It’s been a wake up call to see just how real food and heat poverty is spreading this area. Whether it was financial help or urgent donations of food, there has been occasions where we’ve jumped down to a supermarket, bought emergency food for families and hand delivered it to their doors. Something we’ve done privately and anonymously more of in 2025, and those families who benefited from that, we hope are now in better position…..will know who they are.
As always, not one penny is retained by us! All awards were notified at the time on our Supporters Group page. Our website has been updated with donation and award records, in the interests of full transparency here. https://theblantyretelegraph.com/raised/
