Singer Chris Rea has died, age 74

English born musician and songwriter Chris Rea has sadly passed away, aged 74, his family have confirmed.

The talented blues and rock singer was perhaps best known for his music hit ‘Driving Home for Christmas’, and songs ‘On the Beach’ and ‘Road to Hell’.

As well as his much-loved festive hit, Rea had success in the late 1970s and 1980s also with Fool (If You Think It’s Over), and Let’s Dance. He passed away peacefully in hospital earlier today following a short illness, surrounded by his family.

  1. Some great music and songs.
Personal fav is “TEXAS” with meaningful words:

“WARM WINDS BLOWING, HEATING BLUE SKIES, AND A ROAD THAT GOES FOREVER, I’M GOING TO TEXAS”.

How true that is with Christmas and 2026 approaching, our day time high temps around 26C to 28C. Winter will hit January and some of February soon enough!

Chris will be missed for his creativity which entertained so many for so long.
    Thank you and RIP Chris.
