For the first time in more than 50 years, TONIGHT on Wednesday 1st April 2026, humans are preparing to travel back towards the Moon, marking a huge milestone with the launch of Artemis II.
Around 11.24pm this evening, presuming weather stays fine, this mission will send 4 astronauts on a powerful journey around the Moon and back to Earth, testing the spacecraft that will soon carry people back to the lunar surface for the next generation of exploration.
This time, instead of black and white grainy imagery, astronauts will be streaming the mission in glorious 4K colour.
It’s the next major step in humanity’s return to deep space and a moment many have been waiting decades to see.
The Artemis rocket is the most powerful rocket ever built by humanity. The Artemis programme aims not only to return astronauts to the Moon, but to build a lasting presence there — hoping to establish a base there in the coming few years and opening the door to future missions to Mars and beyond.
