What a successful Sportmans dinner recently took place in Carrigans, Blantyre. A sum of £12,000 was raised! Half going to the Beatson Cancer Charity and half going to the local Youth club Terminal One to buy Christmas presents for the kids! Absolutely amazing! Such remarkable kindness. Well done to everybody involved.

Community Council gift will give friendship group a very merry Christmas
A £500 donation from South Lanarkshire’s Renewable Energy Fund will fund a Christmas lunch for LEAP’s Devlin Grove friendship group and other residents. Initiated by community member Ann Hartmann, the grant will enhance the festive experience with entertainment, and Council representatives expressed excitement about its positive impact on the community.
Runner Set to Tackle Inspirational Challenge Between Celtic Park and Elland Road in Support of Maggie’s Cancer Care
Joe O’Neill, a 33-year-old from Leeds, is running from Celtic Park in Glasgow to Elland Road in Leeds to support Maggie’s charity, which offers free cancer support. His journey reflects personal memories with his late father and aims to raise awareness of cancer’s emotional toll while promoting Maggie’s valuable services.
St John Ogilvie Coffee Morning Success
St John Ogilvie Church successfully raised over £1,000 at their annual coffee morning on October 23rd. The Church spokesperson expressed gratitude to attendees and contributors for making the MacMillan Coffee Morning enjoyable. New Defibrillators in the Area!
Following a successful sportsman’s dinner in April, new defibrillators have been installed in Blantyre and Hamilton. Key locations include the Priory Inn, Parkville Hotel, Ml3 Bar, Blantyre Miners Welfare Club, and Blantyre Victoria Football Park. Notably, the Parkville defibrillator has already been used to save a life.
Blantyre Church Supports Malawi with Care Packages
The Bananabox Trust has packed a container of care packages for Malawi, thanks to the efforts of Blantyre Old Parish Church, which contributed 38 boxes. The charity supports Malawi through volunteer work. These packages will be sent to Ekwendeni Maternity Hospital and God Cares Orphanage, beginning their 10,000-mile journey.
Local Couple Completes Great Glasgow Run for Charity
Local couple Rab and Siobhan Moore celebrated their achievements in the Great Glasgow run, with Rab completing a half marathon and Siobhan finishing a 10k. They raised nearly £1,000 for Chris’s House, a charity focused on suicide awareness, highlighting their commitment to health and community support.
