SPT Withdrawing 230 Bus: Community Response in Blantyre

SPT are withdrawing the 230 bus service which connects Silvertonhill, Hamilton, and Coatshill. The cuts, which were not advised in advance to Councillors, are expected to take effect around late March 2026 and will affect vulnerable residents in Blantyre at Coatshill. Local representatives including ourselves, are calling for SPT to reconsider these changes.

Strike is off at First Glasgow

Unite has announced that approximately 50 First Bus workers in Glasgow have achieved a pay increase of five percent after backing strike action. An enhanced pay offer led to the suspension of planned strikes from January 13 to 17. Unite emphasized that the employees’ solidarity was crucial in securing this favorable outcome.
