SP Energy Networks is upgrading the electricity network in East Kilbride, conducting night-time works on the A725 from 24 Nov to 19 Dec. This includes temporary road closures on Douglas Street and Hamilton Road, along with various nightly closures along the A725. Work hours are from 20:00 to 6:00.
Amey, representing Transport Scotland, will start significant bridge works on the M8 on September 8, causing driver disruptions. The £9 million project involves upgrades to rail and slip roads at Junction 26 (Hillington Interchange) across five phases, with the first phase running until October 1. Traffic will be redirected via Braehead.
Utility work in High Blantyre’s Muir Street and Nursery Place has been completed, and the carriageway is fully resurfaced. This busy route, especially during school run times, is now ready for increased traffic due to the new housing estate on the former Kirkton Care Home site following the roadworks completion.
Improvement works will begin on A727 East Kilbride Road next week, with resurfacing scheduled for August 4-15. The road will be closed from Peel Road roundabout to East Renfrewshire boundary, with a marked diversion route in place. Welsh Drive in Blantyre will be fully closed on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 9am to 9pm for Scottish Water repairs. The closure affects the section between Auchinraith Road and Maxwell Crescent, with diversions in place. The repair work is expected to last only one day.
Essential repairs at Clyde Bridge, Motherwell will lead to a temporary closure of the southbound off slip at Junction 6 of the M74 and lane one of the A723 for four weeks from 20 July to 17 August. A signed diversion will direct traffic to Junction 7 and back. Night closures are scheduled for the setup.
Bardykes Road in Blantyre is closed for emergency repairs from February 21st to February 28th. Scottish Water is digging up the road, and diversions are set up at Glasgow Road, Stonefield Road, and Stonefield Crescent to guide drivers around the affected area.
