South Lanarkshire Council has announced an extra bank holiday on June 15, 2026, to celebrate the men’s International Football team’s return to the World Cup after 28 years. Schools and council services will be closed, with only essential services like burials and cremations operating. The holiday is projected to cost £300,000.
