We write to inform our readers of the imminent disruption coming to Raith Interchange during the end of October and throughout November 2015. Two significant events are planned.
- Major roadworks on Bellshill Road, Bothwell (B7071) are going to require the closure of the outhbound carriageway between Whistleberry Toll and Bothwell Bridge roundabout (the junction with Hamilton Road and Bothwell Road) from Monday 26th October 2015 for FIVE weeks. As a result, there will be no access to Bothwell or Hamilton via M74 Junction 5 Raith or from the Whistleberry Toll (East Kilbride Expressway).
- Full closure of these road both south and northbound will occur for the weekend Friday 27th to Monday 30th November 2015, this closure will effectively prevent anybody travelling to and from Hamilton Road and Bothwell Road via Whistleberry Toll and may impact those people travelling to Blantyre’s festive lights switch on event that weekend.
The overall project is designed to bring safer road with less congestion and is progressing well. The above works are a necessary part of the project and will not be the last road closures. We’ll keep you posted as and when we know more. Photo by Blantyre Telegraph.
