Blantyre’s Toy Drive Success!

Today saw our ‘Christmas Toy Drive’ end, where for the last month, we asked the people of Blantyre to donate just £1 to help towards buying toys for underprivileged children in the local area. What a success its been!

We’ve been overwhelmed as many dozens of people donated, often with donations far more than we asked for, and in a some cases, showing exceptional generosity with substantial donations received. Thank you SO much to everybody who took part and donated something. Your donations were 100% used to buy toys, which will be given out to children within Blantyre itself.

We’ve added up the final total, which was an amazing £304.00, which we’ve topped ourselves up to £350!! With some selective bargain shopping over several trips, we’ve managed to buy many dozens of quality toys for boys and girls of all ages, including babies and toddlers.

Here’s just a selection of them!

The first load has already been handed over to the Salvation Army who are going to give them out (not sell!). Another large batch will be handed into the Salvation Army store in Clydeview Shopping Centre, tomorrow, Saturday 17th December 2016.

It’s heartwarming to know, that thanks to the generosity of many people in Blantyre, that many families who would have struggled this Christmas are going to be thrilled at getting a quality toy for their children. Such Christmas and Community spirit is going to make many dozens of local children very happy indeed.

Our Toy Drive will return again in December 2017.
