Storm “Ali” has today, Wednesday 19th September 2018 left a trail of destruction over Central Scotland and Blantyre has seen its fair share!
Trees coming down appear to have caused the main damage causing traffic disruption and thankfully there’s no reports of people being injured. Trees are down in Glasgow Road and in Stonefield Public Park as well as other places over the town. We’ve seen damaged ridges on houses and damage to property. Fences have been ripped down in High Blantyre and lines coming down affected power, phones and broadband. Rush hour routes were affected by road closures and rail cancellations. Here’s just some of the noted damage today.
Winds are forecast to lighten later tonight, but still remain strong right into the night.
