The Coalfield Regeneration Trust’s public meeting for Blantyre proved somewhat of a success today, Sunday 4th November 2018, when over 40 people from all over Blantyre attended.
Representatives from various community groups, Councillors and residents came to participate in “The Big Blether” at the Miners Welfare at 12.30. Discussion took place on all the positive and negative aspects of Blantyre, with an aim of setting out a 5 year route plan for improvement within the town. Everybody’s voice was heard within a half dozen break out workshop groups and suggestions were collected on a wide variety of safety, social, economic, community and environmental issues.
The outcome of the discussions were summarised for later consideration. All attendees were then treated to an enjoyable buffet lunch.
The next step of this important opportunity for Blantyre will be to complete and hand in surveys. We’ll post separately about that shortly.
A steering group has been formed and will be further discussing and developing ideas. The next big Public meeting with Coalfields will take place on 10th February 2019 at 12.30 at Blantyre Sports Centre.
Thank you to everybody who attended today and to Coalfields for their hospitality.
