Blantyre Toy Drive

For the last 6 weeks, kind people all over Blantyre have been handing in new toys worth £5 or less to Glen Travel, who are collecting the gifts to give out to Blantyre children at the festive event. The campaign is aimed to specifically benefit the children of Blantyre, the idea being that for £2.50 to see Santa, they’ll get back a gift worth £5 (plus of course seeing Santa!)

We need YOUR help!

However, we still need further toys and need YOUR help! Our jointly run campaign, which launched on 1st October 2018 aims to collect many new toys for children, both boys and girls from babies to 10 year olds. Children attending Santa’s grotto at Stonefield Public Park on Sunday 25th November 2018 will be delighted to receive a very worthwhile, amazing gift.

As always with our annual toy drive, success relies entirely upon YOUR kind assistance! We’re hoping church groups, schools, clubs will all get behind this and support the campaign by taking part, as well as YOU sitting there at home.

HOW DO DONATE.
1. Buy any toy(s) with a value of no more than £5 and as many as you want, then hand it in to Glen Travel’s shop at Glasgow Road, Blantyre during midweek or Saturday opening hours.

2. Or alternatively, donate whatever you wish financially at our Official Committee Donation Page here https://blantyrecommunitycommittee.com/donate/ so we can buy the toys directly. We’d love to see residents and businesses help out. You can even do this anonymously by clicking the DONATE NOW button at the top of this facebook page!

With YOUR help, Santa’s Grotto will be a marvel for those young children this year, and quality brand new gifts given out for them to take home.

The Toy Drive is important for Blantyre. It helps address poverty and promotes community spirit to the best of our collective ability. Hamilton an surrounding towns run something similar, so we hope YOU ALL want to support this campaign. It’s YOUR chance to put something back into the community, and spread some festive happiness.

Important: We’re not looking for second hand toys, only new, unboxed items of any value up to and including £5. Why not get your local church, school, group, pub or organisation to help or donate? Please try to donate something, even a couple of pounds will buy a present.
