Stabbing Incident

Wolcott Drive

Further details have now been made public relating to an incident which took place in Blantyre last night, where a 35 year old man was stabbed on Wolcott Drive.

Police had been called to the street on the evening of Saturday 29th December 2018 around 6.55pm after reports of a fight by 6 – 8 males all wearing black clothing and hooded tops.

On arrival they discovered that a man had been stabbed.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to Hairmyres Hospital where he is currently being treated. Hospital staff have described his condition as stable.

Police at Cambuslang have launched enquiries into the serious attack and are appealing for information. The investigation is being given priority in an attempt to catch, convict and jail those responsible asap.

Detective Constable Andrew Fearnside at Cambuslang CID said: “This would appear to be a totally unprovoked attack on a man who had nothing to do with the group of men who were fighting in the street.”

He continued, “Officers are currently carrying out local enquiries and have obtained CCTV footage to try and gain more information. Meantime, we are appealing to anyone with information to contact Cambuslang CID via telephone number 101 quoting incident number 3466 of 29 December 2018.”
