Volunteer Drivers required for Blantyre Volunteers.
The local group are urgently recruiting for new volunteer drivers, to support their Community Transport Organisation, which operates from the base in Blantyre and covers most of Lanarkshire.
Blantyre Community Transport provides safe, accessible, cost-effective, flexible transport run by the community for the community showing what can be done when people take responsibility for solving their own problems.
It mobilises and engages local communities and, as a charity, harnesses the experience and energy of volunteers who give freely of their time to help others. Blantyre Community Transport is a lifeline to many residents, taking disabled people to various venues, children to school activities.
Blantyre Community Transport provides transport to a wide range of clubs, voluntary bodies and care homes.
If you are seeking an opportunity to help our community to reduce social isolation through helping people to get to social opportunities, days out for the elderly from local Nursing Homes as well as school outings and trips to various Lunch clubs in the locality, then here’s something for you. If you enjoy driving and meeting people, are aged between 25 and 70 and are able to commit to a few hours per week/fortnight to help people in your community, this could be the opportunity for you!
Travel expenses will be reimbursed, MIDAS / minibus driver training provided (where appropriate), DBS Check paid by the group. You must have a full driving licence, preferably with a D1 classification – minibus experience an advantage.
