As our Blantyre Oscars 2019 weekend comes to a close, this is our last post about our main event for some time. But it’s an important one…the results and ‘thank yous’! Many people nurse a monumental hangover today (us included). We’re proud and honoured to summarise last night’s winners.

Of course the night belonged to TAYLOR KENNEDY & DENBY MCLAREN, who were crowned the OVERALL WINNERS 2019 with most votes. Very well done!
Well done to all our fantastic winners, which were throughly deserved. Each collected a beautiful trophy and certificate. Huge commiserations to all the 10 runners up, who each collected a certificate and medal.
THE RAFFLE
Thank you to all the individuals and businesses who donated a raffle prize. With thanks to Gail Gillon, Ivan Veverka, Paula Veverka, Glen Travel, Struthan Cottages, Blantyre Project, Morrison Construction, Monica Lennon, Ged Killen, Archie Simm and Billy Gallacher. And of course to everybody else who added prizes to the table upon arrival. We had an astonishing luxury raffle, notably with an Amazon Alexa, a £550 holiday won by the Billy King and a new Apple Ipad worth around £400!
THE BUFFET
It’s with sincere thanks to Carrigans staff for their assistance especially those working behind the scenes to prepare the incredible buffet. We catered for everybody attending, and even with people having seconds, it was just perfect!
FUNDRAISING
We managed to raise a truly amazing amount of money! £1,358.05 in fact!! Smashing the target for £1,000 for the Blantyre Summer Gala Day, with £358.05 to be donated to the Beatson! This includes kind donations received from online readers whilst the event was on. A remarkable achievement made possible by the generosity of the community as a whole! AMAZING! Blantyre Community Committee were given their £1,000 this morning and a cheque is ready to be sent off to the Beatson.

WHAT NOW?
The evening was a TREMENDOUS success! All 170 people look to have enjoyed themselves thoroughly, especially the dancing after 10pm! Social media is awash with Oscars photos today. It went without any hitch or hiccup and we truly did have a massive celebration of everything good about Blantyre.
I cannot commit to Oscars 2020 just yet due to work commitments and proposals to further develop and establish the new Blantyre Community Lottery, a community project aimed to get off the ground by Spring 2020. However, I can say this. It’s not the end of Blantyre Oscars. It WILL be back in the future.
For now though, I’m having a rest and look forward to gaining my evening spare time back. I had a great time and hope you all did too! VERY WELL DONE BLANTYRE! JUST PERFECT!!
