A family in Swinburne Avenue, just off Broompark Road are distraught this morning to find a thief or thieves had been in their home last night.
Early this morning, Wednesday 17 July 2019, they found their kitchen ransacked, with every cupboard and drawer open. As they had slept upstairs, the lowlife(s) made off with a purse, laptop and managed to find vehicle keys. The thief then stole a Landrover (reg SK11 TKO) from the driveway before the family knew anything about it.
There’s only one way out of Swinburne Avenue, which is normally a quiet street, so perhaps somebody witnessed it driving off at speed towards Broompark Road.
The Landrover was found this morning at 9.45am, abandoned in Baronhall Drive nearby in the Wheatlands Estate.
This break in followed an earlier incident in Swinburne Avenue last night when another resident had called the police around 2am after spotting a suspicious male hanging around. Police came out , searched but found nothing.
Many parts of Blantyre were also in darkness last night after road lighting faults. Please be vigilant.
We hope the family are all ok after such a fright.
Police have been called out again to the street, this time about the break in.
