Local Martial Arts Club, McGowans Blackbelt Academy enjoyed a fantastic result in the North Lanarkshire Open TaeKwon-Do Championships at Ravenscraig Sports Centre on the 24th August.
Taking 21 competitors, the club based in Burnbank achieved an amazing 11 Golds, 10 Silvers and 6 bronze medals and came 4th in the overall medals tables.
Instructor Kieran McGowan said “Lots of hard work goes into preparing for competition and I am delighted it paid off for them. The most important thing is the experience they gain and how they learn and improve. Huge congratulations to our students on their achievement, and thank you to the coaches, umpires and parents for their support”
The club move on to the Scottish Championships in Grangemouth this weekend followed by a trip to Aberdeen for the North East Challenge Cup later in September.
Based in their own purpose built martial arts centre on Bertram Street, McGowans Blackbelt Academy has classes for ages 3 up to adult classes.
