Lewis Picks up Award!

Blantyre’s Lewis Watt is positively beaming tonight, Thursday 12th September 2019 after picking up an award for ‘Outstanding Contribution to Volunteering’.

The kind hearted youngster, a pupil of Auchinraith Primary is part of Blantyre Community Committee and helps organise the Summer Gala and Festive events in Blantyre.

Lewis was a finalist in the Voluntary Action Awards for South Lanarkshire, in the category “Young Volunteer of the Year“.

He’s such a grafter and could be seen at the gala weekend and other Committee events volunteering to carry chairs for guests, litterpicking and even manning some of the stalls, all without grumble or complaint!

It’s not just his family who are proud tonight. Blantyre Community Committee members are thrilled that their youngest member has been recognised for volunteering. A spokesperson for the committee said tonight, “We’re thrilled for Lewis and his family tonight. He has such motivation and enthusiasm! For example, upon seeing how hot it was, Lewis came up with the idea of creating a “dog station” putting out water and food to help make the gala more pet friendly. He’s a little star who helps make our public events run more smoothly.”

Lewis enjoyed himself at the ceremony and a Fire deputy commander offered him a tour of the training facilities. Well done Lewis!
