We are thrilled today to announce a £250 donation to local environmental group ‘Friends of the Calder‘.
Following work this afternoon, we met up with Lesley Bethel, Treasurer of the group and her husband Jack, fellow member of ‘Friends of the Calder’. Accompanied by their grandkids, £250 in cash was handed over to the organisation in front of the community orchard, at the Calder woodland just off Hunthill Road.
The donation is intended to enhance the evolving community orchard and help keep it maintained.
Lesley told us, “On behalf of the whole group, please accept our sincere thanks.”
This donation was made possible by Blantyre Telegraph readers, including a generous donation from a very supportive, anonymous lady. More cash awards to local organisations will be announced in the coming days.
