SpeedoMick in Blantyre

Here’s a remarkable story you may have missed last week. Michael Cullen, better known as ‘SpeedoMick’ is currently taking part in a massive endurance challenge all for charity. Michael is walking 1000 miles throughout the UK in just his speedos!

Braving all weather, he’s walking for “Leave the light on” charity. He’s well through the challenge and on 26th December, it took him into Blantyre! yes, on Boxing Day you may have spotted “SpeedoMick” walking along Glasgow Road dressed rather sparsely.

He started on 6th December from John O’groats and is making his way to Lands end. It will take at least 7 weeks and to put this in perspective, Michael is walking close to a marathon a day!

Mick says, “I will of course be making this journey whilst being in my swimming attire, ie speedos goggles and hat which will make this challenge a very cold one but it will bring a lot of smiles to people’s faces I am sure, as well as raising awareness and vital funds to start up our new  projects .”

He is fundraising for community projects for disadvantaged young people, creating opportunities to bring people together to overcome isolation and experience positive attention and affirmation and to hopefully broaden their horizons and incredibly has raised over £63,000 so far!
