A fire which broke out last night, Thursday 23rd January 2020 around 10.20pm has claimed a pensioners life.
The alarm was raised by residents in Sadlers Wells Court, East Kilbride with 5 fire engines promptly attending.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Police were called to a report of a fire at a property on Sadlers Wells Court, East Kilbride, around 10.30pm on Thursday, 23 January. The fire was extinguished by the SFRS and the body of a 65-year-old woman was recovered from the property.”
A post mortem will take place in due course to establish the cause of death.
A joint investigation will be carried out with the SFRS to establish the cause of the fire. Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased at this sad time. Services were still on the scene as of this morning.
