Jacob Naismith- Scottish Intermediate Champion

A Blantyre boy has been crowned Scottish Intermediate Boxing Champion!

Jacob Naismith (11) lives in Blantyre and trains and fights with O’Neils Amateur Boxing Club in Cambuslang.

In an exciting match, Jacob who weighs 35.5 kg was fighting in the Scottish intermediate championships held at Boxing Scotland’s High Performance centre in Bridgeton. He beat Sonny Gow (Doon Valley) unanimously in the semi finals last weekend at Ravenscraig to fight Thomas O’Reilly (Sparta) yesterday, Saturday 1st February 2020 and won on a 3:2 split decision.

Jacob is now the 2008/2009 Scottish intermediate champion. In the coming weeks he’ll compete in the Western District championships and the Scottish Schoolboy championships.

An incredible achievement, we’re sure you’ll agree.

In this touching photo, Jacob is pictured with his opponent. It’s the mark of a true sportsman to be friends before such a fight, and remain friends after! Such respect.
