Lecturers at three Universities have agreed to go on strike after a row about pay.
The EIS, Scotland’s teaching union, confirmed that six institutions in Scotland met the legal mandate required for strike action, among them Strathclyde University, The Glasgow School of Art and The University of the West of Scotland- which has campuses in Paisley, High Blantyre, Dumfries and Ayr.
EIS General Secretary Larry Flanagan said: “EIS-ULA members have voted overwhelmingly for strike action in pursuit of a fair cost of living pay award. This action is a last resort, and results from management’s unwillingness to negotiate a fair offer”.
Details of any strike action are to be considered by The EIS next week.
