Blantyre Telegraph can reveal that M&D (Leisure) ltd who operate Scotlands themepark and the Alona Hotel in Strathclyde Park has today gone into administration.
The family-run business who run the Alona Hotel and the themepark had been struggling financially in recent years and the Covid19 situation has only made things worse. In March, they took the difficult decision to lay off staff who had been there for many years.
Devastated staff took to contacting us to confirm the sad news stating they had received emails from the company Director who had now called in receivers. Leonard Curtis Business Rescue & Recovery were today, Thursday 23rd April appointed joint administrators by the Court of Session. The emails outlined that staff contracts had been terminated with immediate effect this afternoon.
This is a devastating blow for Central Scotland jobs. The theme park has been a well known location for several decades and the family who own it worked hard.
It’s unknown what will happen to the hotel and themepark at this time.
This news is a huge reminder to everybody that Scotland is not going to emerge from the Covid19 crisis in the same shape it went into. We feel for all the employees affected by this announcement and wish them the best and good luck for their future.
