Man Shot Dead Outside Home

Further information is now available from official sources about yesterday’s heavy police presence in High Blantyre.

It has been reported Nationally, that a 26 year old man was shot dead outside his home in Caithness Street, High Blantyre around 5.00pm, yesterday Monday 17 August 2020.

Police are now investigating and as of 6pm tonight, Tuesday a large police presence still remains in the area.

This is believed to have been a targeted attack. It’s understood the man was injured in the incident before being rushed to University Hospital Wishaw where he died a short time later.

A vehicle was also torched earlier this week in what looks to be connected to the incident.

A police spokesperson added, “A post mortem will take place to establish the exact cause of his death which at this time police are treating as suspicious and enquiries are continuing. Officers are in the area to provide public reassurance.”Any information about the incident can be passed to officers at the scene or via 101 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

The shock of such a large police presence was sensitively reported yesterday on Blantyre Telegraph to ensure people steered clear of the area. Whilst the man has been named on News websites, we’ve taken the decision as always NOT to name him on this page and trust our readers will respect this in any comments they may wish to make at this time.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the victim’s family and friends and we hope justice gets served in due course.
