Planning has been submitted to South Lanarkshire Council for the erection of 20 new cottage flats with associated parking, vehicular access and landscaping at the bottom of Church Street.
Some site clearance has taken place already the week before lockdown. The proposals would have an entrance from Church Street with no access from Logan Street.
The new proposal would see the private flats built from Glasgow Road using all the vacant space, right up to Terminal One. The homes would be built by developer, Glenesk Homes.
Architects have provided a concept illustration as to how they will look (pictured).
Messages received by us on this subject have had varied viewpoints. One reader told us, “With 1 car parking space permitted per household, I’m concerned about the amount of surplus cars which may end up having to park on an already busy Church Street. This urgently needs highlighted.”
Another told us, “Good to see more parts of Glasgow Road being developed with quality housing. That site has been sitting empty far too long and only attracts litter at present.”
