The Scottish Government has announced today that additional lockdown restrictions will “almost certainly” be put in place in Scotland in the next couple of days.
At her daily briefing, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said “fast and urgent action” is needed to tackle the growth of the virus and to bring the R number back down below 1. She’s called for a meeting with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson asking for a UK unified approach. A COBRA meeting takes place tomorrow.
Over on our Supporters Group, we reported earlier on signs of panic buying in some local shops once again, as chatter from the last few days increases concerns. Supermarkets have also reported this afternoon a spike in the number of bookings for advance deliveries.
There seems to be a willingness to ensure schools and businesses are maintained open, though in Scotland, hospitality sector is once again under scrutiny.
