Changes for Older Pupils

With the new 5 tier approach starting in Scotland on Monday, there are a few changes for Teachers, pupils and parents around Covid Safety in and around Schools.

Older Pupils in S4 to S6 MUST wear masks in classrooms if they are being schooled in areas currently on Tier 3 or 4.

For Lanarkshire in Tier 3, it means not just older pupils wearing masks in classrooms, but also their teachers too. Parents are now being asked to always wear facemasks at the school drop off/pickup zones, even if not entering the school.

Staff in primary schools should now wear face coverings in communal areas, such as staff rooms, canteens and corridors.

No local authority has yet been placed in level 4, the closest to lockdown.

However, most of the central belt of Scotland is in level 3, including Glasgow and Edinburgh as well as Lanarkshire, Ayrshire and the Lothians. Dundee, Stirling and Falkirk are also in level 3. About 3.5 million people in total.
