10 Years Since THAT Snowstorm

Today, 6th December marks ten years since THAT snowstorm. A fierce blizzard dumped feet of snow all over Scotland in a short space of time.

Scotland ground to a halt, as offices closed up early and people tried to get home as conditions outside got worse. Many people were snowed in at their workplaces, others chose to leave vehicles and try to walk. Motorways and city roads were impassable and gritters caught off guard.

We were travelling to Edinburgh that day and chose to turn back very early on the M8 at EuroCentral. Even then, it took 2 hours to travel that short distance. A good decision though as we watched most of the snow fall from home in Blantyre. Others were not so lucky, like the people on the EK Expressway pictured.

Do YOU remember that day? Where were you? What did you do?
