More than 40 residents across South Lanarkshire have been recognised for outstanding achievements in their communities and amongst them were two Blantyre women.
Community Councillors Margaret Lindner and Ann Hartman were recognised for making a significant contribution to community life in Blantyre, each receiving a trophy and certificate.
Nominations were made by councillors and include people who work with local community groups, community councils, charity organisations, sports teams or have helped the environment.
Both ladies appear delighted with their award as pictured here by Blantyre Community Council. Our congratulations go out to them both.
Speaking of the awards, Provost Ian McAllan said: “It was truly humbling to hear of the effort that people across all communities in South Lanarkshire put in to improve the area they live in. Some of them have been carrying out this work for many years and it is only fitting that we recognise them in this way.
“Our intention was to host an awards ceremony in April of this year to mark their achievements, but of course the global pandemic meant we could not proceed as we first hoped.
“However, I felt it was even more important that those who received the awards knew that we appreciated their efforts more than ever, especially as so many of them have really went above and beyond despite the difficulties caused by Covid-19.
“A huge congratulations to them all, and on behalf of everyone in South Lanarkshire, thank you so much for everything you do for your local communities.”
