Once again, conversation on our pages and messages at this time of year turns to Grit. We’re always asked for advice or more information about Grit Bins. However, did you know, there’s a great page on the Council website with all the info you’ll need about Grit?!
From where your nearest Grit bin is, to how YOU can request a refill or even a new bin for your street, (especially handy with many new houses built in Blantyre this year!) Here’s the link if you want to bookmark.

Please remember though, the council will be inundated with the pavements being frozen over just now.
Over the last couple of days, we’ve put up several articles of kindness as neighbours help each other. BUT….its been difficult for others too.
One lady told us, “Ellisland drive was like an Ice rink and I reported the grit is finished but none was delivered. I work for our NHS and it’s important that I get out my driveway in the morning.”
Another resident, a male at Stonefield Road was aggressively confronted by house owners when he went to the next nearest bin to get grit, as the one in his street was empty. A reminder that grit salt is provided by the council for everybody, the bins being provided in each street for convenience.
Have your Say. Are you satisfied with your grit bin service? Have you encountered kindness or confrontation on this subject?
