Work has started at High Blantyre’s New Petrol Station development.
Contractors have now moved into the vacant site beside Redburn Farm, at High Blantyre, commencing the site clearance in advance of construction activities.
Planning permission was granted to Euro Garages in July 2020 for the creation of a brand new petrol station with associated retail shop (Class 1) and sandwich shop, along with 27 parking spaces. Alongside this, a brand new drivethrough (Class 3) for a major coffee business is being built.
The name of the businesses who will move in, still have to be announced, but with Costa Coffee already confirmed elsewhere in Blantyre, reliable sources have suggested the affiliations of the Euro Garage name, lends towards a Starbucks drive through with Spar shop. (To be Confirmed).
Entrance will be alongside Redburn Farm with no access from Hillhouse Road. When finished, this will would no doubt create local jobs and of course make use of the derelict land which hasn’t been used since the end of the coal era in the 1950’s.
This development is certainly going to change this local area. Throughout 2021, we’ll be keeping an eye on progress and will update again once further details are released.
