No further snow fell in South Lanarkshire overnight last night but it certainly didn’t stop kids getting out and about to sledge. As our photo shows Greenhall Park in High Blantyre proving very popular and nice to see the family units all socially distanced.
It was a cold one. Heading to work this morning it was -9 degrees in Blantyre around 6am, almost as bitterly cold as South Lanarkshire’s lowest road surface temperature recorded at -10 °C at Lesmahagow.
We’re in for more cold weather. Tonight will be very cold with a risk of ice and frost. It will remain dry and largely clear with easterly winds continuing. Tomorrow will be another cold, dry, sunny day with south-easterly winds.
Precautionary routes were gritted through the night and SLC started gritting secondary routes at 8am. Precautionary routes are being treated again from 1pm earlier today and right through the night.
Precautionary footpaths are being treated from 5am. Footpaths are also being treated today with help from Community colleagues and grit bin filling is continuing.
