Blantyre Oscars 2021 is now officially cancelled.
The popular, red carpet event which recognises the accomplishments of groups and individuals in the community had unfortunately been shelved whilst the pandemic unfolded. We know this will be a disappointment to many people, given the success of previous sold out events.
The annual charitable event, hosted and organised by Blantyre Telegraph is one of the first community events to be cancelled for a second year. It was a difficult decision to make. Unfortunately, with several months planning for each event, we’re accepting things aren’t going to be normal for indoor party nights anytime soon. We’re were also keen to keep the mix of awards AND a party night and would rather wait until everybody has been vaccinated.
Blantyre Oscars will be back in March 2022, bigger and better with an array of surprises for nominees and guests alike, including the return of celeb video endorsements.
We look forward to this BIG fun night as a way or recognising the incredible volunteering efforts by local people throughout the pandemic in last year and 2021.
