Remembering Jimmy Park (91)

It’s with sadness we learn of the passing of local man, Jimmy Park.

Jimmy Park passed away suddenly on Saturday, 27th of February 2021. He was 91 years of age. Originally from East Kilbride, Jimmy moved to Blantyre in 1957. He was a well known around this town.

The family have released funeral details. If anyone would like to pay their respects, his funeral is on Tuesday, 16th March 2021 and will be leaving Greenbank carpark at 9.45am, heading along Burnbrae Road on to Stonefield Road, then Broompark Road then High Blantyre Main Street towards the crematorium. He will pass the summer seats at the Cross where he spent many an hour passing the time with his friends, putting the world to rights.

He certainly did enjoy a blether on those seats with the rest of the gang, including Sandy McVicar, big Loui Blair, Jimmy Patterson and others. Jimmy truly was a character and if you had the fortune of meeting him, we’re sure you would remember him!

Our thoughts are with the family at this sad time. Rest in Peace Jimmy.
