Elections 21: Your Vote Counts

Poll cards for the forthcoming Scottish Parliamentary elections have now been sent out.

The notice of election was published earlier this week, with voting taking place on Thursday, 6 May between 7am and 10pm.

If you are already registered to vote and are on the electoral register in South Lanarkshire you do not need to re-register.

To vote in this election, eligible voters must be aged 16 or over and must be registered to vote by midnight on Monday 19 April 2021.

Chief Executive of South Lanarkshire Council, and returning officer, Cleland Sneddon, said: “Residents already registered to vote should start to see their poll cards dropping through their letterboxes this week.

“I would encourage everyone to use their vote.

“In this election you will be voting for your chosen Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) and you will be issued with two ballot papers.

“The constituency ballot paper is lilac in colour and lists the candidates in alphabetical order. To vote simply mark a cross (X) in the box opposite the name of one candidate only.

“The regional ballot paper is a peach colour and lists a party or individual candidate. To vote simply mark a cross (X) in the box opposite the name of one party or individual candidate only.”
