End of an Era

It’s the end of an era for Strathclyde University as it closes its doors on its old Student Union building in Glasgow for the last time.

With a move on the cards to a new Union, students of all ages will remember some good times in there, socialising, dancing, making friends and partners.

Students of a certain age may remember the Barony on Tuesday nights, of the madness of Level 8 which saw some amazing bands over the years including The Who, The Ramones, Transvision Vamp, Radiohead, Talking Heads Fleetwood Mac, Calvin Harris, Girls Aloud and of course, Cascada!

The 80’s and 90s especially saw many revellers at weekends attending, who weren’t even students! However, primarily it was a central hub for loads of student activity by day and a place of entertainment and socialising by evening. Who could also forget ‘Reds’ or the Gothic vibe?

What’s your memories of Strathy Union?
