Park Meeting Well Attended

Thanks go out to almost 50 people who turned up at the outdoor meeting to discuss ways to improve Stonefield Public Park.

At an earlier meeting this evening, a well attended meeting took place comprised of businesses, individuals and representatives from the council to discuss ways to improve the park.

Blantyre’s three local Councillors also attended and it was good to see cross party support, working together with members of the public to discuss all aspects about this popular outdoor space. The group walked around for 45 minutes discussing what works well and what doesn’t, sharing ideas for improvement.Subjects offered included further play equipment, creating flower beds, benches, picnic tables, further planting, more bins, edging the paths, better lighting and more.

This initial meeting was to help bolster the Blantyre Community Action Plan for 2024, a plan created by members of the public and organisations in 2019, under the banner of ‘Blantyre Futures’ which aims to see through a long term improvement plan for this town. The next step hopes to create a constituted group to address feedback.
