Glasgow Road Closure

News about Blantyre roadworks are usually posted on our Supporters Group, but this one is significant enough to cause some disruption and appears to be causing some confusion.

Glasgow Road is set to be resurfaced between Station Road junction and Stonefield Road, which will result in a road closure. Advance preparation works start this Wednesday 13th October with the actual closure commencing on Monday 18th October. Work is expected to be complete on Thursday 21st October.

Of course, this is going to affect bus Services. During the closure:

The nearest stops will be Blantyre Asda, Hunthill Road, Cambuslang Main Street west of Greenlees Road.

Service 263 & 267 will divert via EK Expressway, A749, Greenlees Road & Cambuslang Main Street.

Service 263 & 267 will be unable to operate between EK Expressway and Cambuslang prior to Greenlees Road.

The alternative route Bardykes Road was tested and due to a number of issues is unsuitable for “big” bus operation.
