Shoppers can now make contactless card payments up to £100 with a single tap of their card.
Today, Friday 15th October 2021 sees the limit for contactless cards increase from £45 to £100. The news comes after it was revealed 60% of all card transactions in the UK last year were contactless.
However, the change may not be immediate. Many retailers are going to need to upgrade their contactless terminals so the option may not be immediately available. The retailer will be able to keep you right. Whilst the new limit may suit certain transactions, eg. filling up a tank of fuel etc, there are those who are concerned, especially if cards are lost.
Have your say. Is this a welcome development? Are we quickly moving away from cash?
