Following the mindless vandalism which put the brand new Livingstone playpark out of service, Police are appealing for more information.
Attempts were made to set the playpark equipment on fire on Friday 21st January and it was only due to the quick thinking of a passer by that the fire was quickly put out. However, it left the equipment unusable for now, denying local children of their new play area. Nearby CCTV is installed.
Police are appealing to help trace the person or those responsible.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman commented “Enquiries are ongoing following a report of a wooden hut being set on fire at the David Livingstone Centre, Station Road, Blantyre. Anyone with information should contact police on 101.”
Staff at the David Livingstone Centre commented, “We’re so disappointed to report that our playpark was vandalised this weekend. Let’s hope repairs are quick and simple, and we can welcome children back to the park soon!”
