The days of being able to freely charge at free electric vehicle charging points are ending. South Lanarkshire Councillors have voted that certainly at council facilities there should be a fee for users.
Rising energy costs have been cited as the reason for imposing the fee. Council officers recommended introducing a ‘Cost Only’ charge which will charge users at a rate based on the number of units of energy consumed.
Although the motion was passed, some councillors it is noted did try to stop the fee from being implemented, given the current economic climate.
