Calderside Sports Leaders

Calderside Academy News! The Blantyre / Hamilton Active Schools Team (in partnership with Blantyre Soccer Academy and Terminal 1) ran a ‘Go Fitba Multi Sports holiday camp at the High School throughout 3 days of the October School Week holidays.

It was open and promoted to P1-S1 pupils from Blantyre to attend. It was free of charge and breakfast was provided each morning for all children.

A spokesperson for Calderside Academy told Blantyre Telegraph, “This is the first time we have delivered the camp in the Blantyre Area, and it was a huge success with over 140 children booked on, with 105 attending over the three days.”

“I just wanted to highlight the S6 Sports Leaders who came along to each of the three days to volunteer and assist with delivering the sports sessions. The commitment and enthusiasm were fantastic, I can’t praise them highly enough.”

“Feedback from the other partners and coordinators was extremely complimentary. The group of pupils are a credit to Calderside Academy and would have them out volunteering with me at any time.” added Leslie Scanlan, the Active Schools Coordinator.

The pupils involved are: Eva Robertson, Amie McFadyn, Sophie Scott, John McGinty, Keir Fulston, Thomas Caithness, Jenny O’Brien, Cara Boyle, Katie Goodwin, Courtney Rielly, Chantelle Reid, Matthew Reid and Emma Bissett.
