Congratulations Jacob Naismith

He’s done it again! Blantyre boxer Jacob Naismith won “Scottish schoolboy of the year”, the best in his category then went on to pick up the public choice Scottish boxer of the year award!

JATV organised the ‘Scottish Boxer of the year’ awards at the Marriott hotel Glasgow on Friday 4th November to recognise boxing and all those involved.

Jacob was nominated for Scottish School boy of the year which meant as a shortlisted nominee he was also entered into a second category: the public choice award for Scottish Boxer of the year 2022, which included 50+ nominees and was decided through a voting process.

It was a great night outwith the awards but when Jacob won his category (schoolboy) it was a fantastic result! All of his family were there and were so proud of him!

Then at the end of the awards, the public choice award for Scottish boxer of the year was announced which Jacob also won! This was a wonderful surprise and made so special by the support of the Blantyre community, family and friends for taking time to vote and recognise Jacobs dedication and achievements.

Leanne, his proud mother told Blantyre Telegraph, “As his parents, we are immensely proud of all he has achieved so far as he puts his all into both his sports. He has achieved so much at only 14 and we are looking forward to what is ahead for him! Our thanks go to everybody who voted, all involved in his journey so far, our families for being there on the night and to Jamie from JATV for organising a fantastic event to recognise Scottish boxing and all the important people within it!”
