Santa Visit was huge Success

What a wonderful, Christmassy day it was yesterday in Blantyre! So many local children and their families visited Santa at Glen Travel on Glasgow Road, thanks to the amazing Annual Toy Drive!

So many kind people got behind the campaign this year and we had an overwhelming amount of new gifts to give out. The grotto was beautifully decorated.

Children from newborn babies up to 12 years of age not only got to meet Santa, but were treated to a brand new toy from an incredible, huge choice. The festive event was a joint venture between Travel Agency firm, Glen Travel and ourselves Blantyre Telegraph and used the financial donations from this years Annual Blantyre Toy Drive to buy presents for the kids.

Just look at all the toys. Many, many families passed through the event with the queue managed amazingly. Inside, the event also had a tombola with hundreds of pounds raised for St Andrew’s Hospice. (Final amount to be confirmed by Glen Travel).

With thanks to the hard working staff at Glen Travel, the volunteers, elves, Santa himself, and of course everybody who donated to this campaign for helping make it such a marvellous success! It was truly heartwarming once again to see so many happy children.

Here’s some photos (although a couple of elves were a little older this year!). There were SO many toys still left over even after Santa had left. We have ensured they will ALL go to vulnerable families to those who need them most.

Thank you once again to everybody who took part and whose kind donations of toys or money stretched so far to make this Christmas miracle!

Delighted kids with beaming faces, treated to quality toys, books and sweets. Community kindness passed back to local children. All photos have permission from parents to be posted.
