Merry Christmas Everybody

Here’s wishing all our readers a ‘Merry Christmas, Peace and Happiness” for the holidays.

Christmas holidays is usually a quieter time for news so there may be fewer posts here next week as we spend quality time with family.

Hope you’ve enjoyed all our efforts throughout 2022 bringing you local news as it happens. Thank you to all 22,986 readers including hundreds of subscribers for your continued, appreciated daily support. This page remains free, friendly and informative, often breaking local stories even before ‘proper’ media sources do, a primary, daily source of contemporary, local news about Blantyre in any one place.

Our eleventh year has certainly been memorable with our new, organised Groups proving popular and making our life MUCH easier! Over 1,200 articles posted this year alone and it was recently heartwarming to hear how reliant people are on Telegraph as a trusted service. Our social media “insight stats” are absolutely staggering for 2022 reaching far around the world and now with a following in many other towns, especially in Lanarkshire!

Thank you again to the HUGE network of individuals, businesses and organisations behind the scenes. People who are quick to share events, news and photos as they happen (you know who you are), which is sincerely appreciated. Thanks also to Live Chat moderators Andrew and Ruth who have helped maintain order and group rules.

Now into a twelfth year, of course, the main reason Blantyre Telegraph exists is to raise funds for local good causes and we’re pleased to announce that by 31st December, the page will have raised over £49,200! Not one penny was retained. Over a quarter of a lifetime entirely devoted to bringing you local news for no reward or wage. We remain motivated and very proud of what’s been accomplished on this charitable page, whether its making monthly donations to help many community groups, organising an incredibly successful massive toy drive for a whole town, or simply covering events and local stories to promote others and Blantyre itself.

Our incredible Supporters Group has seen hundreds of extra exclusive posts, alerts and articles, giving those people the news first, with hundreds of Supporters again subscribing with a small monthly charge for good causes. It’s making a huge difference to local causes and if you’re not already a supporter, you’re missing out.

remember….It’s YOU who have made Blantyre Telegraph such a success.

Thanks everybody for being SO engaging, friendly and for your continued interest. From me [Paul Veverka] to you, I wish you all, a Merry Christmas!
