Bookbug at Calderside Academy

The S6 pupils of Calderside Academy are excited to announce a new initiative.

BookBug runs in conjunction with the Scottish Book Trust and the Scottish Government to support families to read, sing and play with their little ones to give them the best start in life.

It will take place in the school library every week. The time of sessions is 10.00am-10.30am every Friday, commencing Friday 27th of October.

There’s no need to register, just turn up at the entrance to the school in plenty of time and you will be directed to the library.

Ms Findlay, one of the teaching staff involved commented – “This is a great way for young people from the school to give back to the community. BookBug is an exciting way to help develop language and social skills in a relaxed environment. It is also noted for having beneficial impacts on the emotional well-being of babies and families. We would welcome babies, toddlers and preschool children and families. The sessions are free of charge and we look forward to seeing you all there.
