Following many 2022 and 2023 complaints about the state of High Blantyre’s Priestfield Cemetery roadway, the council have now actioned and attended to much needed resurfacing work.
The condition of the road was so bad with deep, unsightly potholes due to the trafficked surface (and perhaps due to the fact this was a former colliery), that it had become difficult to take a vehicle into the cemetery at certain areas.
Last week, South Lanarkshire Council’s contractors resurfaced the whole roadway up to the first roundabout, full width reinstatement, rather than just undertaking patchwork repairs. Welcome news, and they did a good, tidy job. It was badly needing done. We understand several councillors pushed for this work to happen, so their thanks are offered here.
